Description
Appearance:
- Slender, streamlined body reaching up to 3 inches (7 cm) in length
- Silvery or coppery-pink body with a green cast along the back
- Males have a more intense pink coloration, especially on the belly
- Elongated, flowing dorsal and anal fins, twice the length of the body in males
- Forked caudal fin
- Small, pointed mouth
Behavior:
- Peaceful and schooling: Do best in groups of 6 or more.
- Active swimmers: Enjoy exploring all levels of the tank.
- Relatively hardy and undemanding: Adaptable to a range of water parameters.
- Omnivorous: Feed on a variety of foods, including flakes, pellets, brine shrimp, and bloodworms.
Care requirements:
- Established freshwater aquarium (minimum 20 gallons for a small school)
- Stable water parameters:
- Temperature: 72-82°F (22-28°C)
- pH: 6.0-8.0
